Things required to make disinfectant wipes
In order to make bleach-based disinfectant wipes, you require a solution of bleach containing minimum 1000ppm of sodium hypochlorite in it, water, pieces of cotton cloth or paper towels and an airtight box to serve storage purposes. On the other hand if you want to prepare alcohol-based disinfectant wipes, you will need a solution of Isopropyl alcohol or ethanol in replacement of bleaching solution and the rest of the ingredients will remain the same. You can get all these items easily from the market as well as you can also find them online on amazon.
Initially, take into account that the purpose of the homemade disinfectant wipes should be the cleaning of household objects and hard surfaces; they should not be used by humans to clean hands, face or other body parts. Homemade disinfectant wipes can damage your skin and can adversely affect your lungs, so it is suggested by CDC to use them after wearing gloves. Prior to use of the bleach or alcohol based agents, it's important to consider the following:
- Check expiration dates of bleaching solutions and don’t mix ammonia or any other cleansing solution with bleach.
- Dilute the alcohol and make sure to use an ideal alcohol which contains 70% of isopropyl alcohol or 60% of ethanol. Alcohol should be enclosed in an airtight container to avoid evaporation. If you use an old alcohol and don’t know its efficiency and effect, then it is preferable to buy a new one from the market.
